A fine rare South American colonial silver and wood mate cup

A beautifully crafted colonial-period mate cup, fashioned from rich dark hardwood with elegant silver mounts. The body is fitted with finely chased silver bands and a repoussé rim decorated with floral scrolls, demonstrating skilled local silversmithing of the 18th–19th century.

Used in the traditional drinking of yerba maté, this refined example combines indigenous craftsmanship with European decorative influence.
