NDEBELE BEADED GROUP

Three beaded objects. The mace is used for weddings. It resembles a telephone pole influenced by the 20th century developemen of electricity. The hair piece may be used by the bride for the wedding but also for other events. The long ribbon-like piece fits around tneck of a mother when the son is circumsized.
Bought from Jim Camp who was one of the early tribal art dealers in New York. These objects were displayed in Camp's gallery about 1970-73 in the first show of Ndebele objects in the world.
