Navajo Raised Outline / Coal Mine Mesa / Teec Nos Pas Weaving by Larrie Yazzie.
An iconic Raised Outline /Coal Mine Mesa weaving done with a Teec Nos Pas pattern woven by Larry Yazzie who died in 1995, and who set the standard for Raised Outline weavings, winning multiple awards during his short career as a phenomenal male weaver. His pieces are in museum collections, including the Smithsonian. As is customary, his diagonal design wefts are wrapped twice around the warp on one side of the rug, and on the reverse side the vertical wefts are additionally raised. His geometric elements are precisely matched and exact, and two Eagle Feathers embellish the center. Since his death Larry Yazzie’s treasured weavings are in demand even more than when he was living as one might expect. A photo of Larry Yazzie holding this rug at Garland's Navajo Rugs shop accompanies the weaving.
