Iron Grappling Hook

Asian and Tribal Art - Zena Kruzick

Made from one piece of iron that is split and hammered to form the hooks, this was used to hoist a bucket from a well or possibly to secure a boat. In earlier times, these kaginawa were used by samurai to scale walls or hang their armor while camping.
