Altogether, approximately seven such drums are known, including the Hunter Drum bearing the “Black Chicken” inscription. A square drum, also dating to the 1890s and in this later horned style, repeats the design of the horn-and-winged figure on the Parker drum (Latini 2004, p.28) (Figure 4). This example appears to draw upon the buffalo or Thunder Being design traditions seen on the Slocum and Parker drums. All of Siyosapa’s drums can be understood as belonging to one of these two complementary thematic traditions.

The reverse is segmented into three parts, with a central dotted sector using black, red, and yellow paints, flanked by lanes of yellow. Accompanying the drum is a custom table mount.
