Antique South American Spanish Colonial Poly chrome Folk Art Santos figures
Tribal Art Antiques
High Andes (Altiplano region, Peru or Bolivia), late 18th–early 19th century
Hand-carved and polychromed wooden devotional group depicting a central female saint flanked by two attendant figures, mounted on its original carved base. Executed in a provincial High Andean workshop, the figures display the characteristic columnar stance, simplified facial planes, and earthy polychrome palette associated with Altiplano devotional carving.
The surface retains significant original paint with expected wear, oxidation, and age-related shrinkage cracks consistent with 18th-century construction.
A rare and expressive example of rural colonial Andean religious folk sculpture.
