Naga Meo (Tankhul) tribe, Manipur (Naga border) - late 19th century - extremely heavy brass bracelet of great status, with fine engraved tattoo work and overall aspect faded over time, bangle extremely worn and possibly burnt, with remnants of tar on the inside that allowed for better wearability - used in fighting as both a weapon and a protective device - 4 3/4" x 2 3/4", 1 Kg 275 grams - on base - collected in Nagaland, early 1980's
