Nez Perce Vest / 1880

A vest constructed from native tanned hide and decorated in sinew-sewn seed beads. The obverse comprises abstract floral motifs in greasy yellow, pink, translucent blue, and sky blue. Brass buttons trim the armholes, along with yellow-on-white triangles along the edges. Brass chains suspend from the breasts. The sum is stained with yellow ochre.
