Leon Venado
He was born on June 28, 1900 in Santa María Chiconcuac, State of Mexico-
His parents: Mr. Paulino Venado and Ms. Epiphany Zambrano.
It was the fourth of 5 children.
On June 17, 1920, he married Ms. Encarnación Galván López, with whom she procreated seven children: Hermelinda, Celia, Benito, Felipe, Fulgencio and Filiberto (to date Mr. Filiberto survives).
He died in Santa María Chiconcuac on June 13, 1946.
I work with the world famous muralists Diego Rivera and Pablo O'Higgins, their talent was recognized not only by them by immortalizing it in their works, but also by the circle of friends of these personalities.
In several books published in Mexico and abroad the name of Mr. León Venado is mentioned, in one of them Mrs. María de Jesús de la Fuente Viuda de O'Higgins when talking about the murals of the “Riveriana Chapel” that is found in the "CapillaRiveriana" that is in the Autonomous University Chapingo He comments:
“In these murals there are not only Tina Modotti, Lupe Marín, Luciana, who are characters and friends of Diego who posed for him, but there are others as important, for example, León Venado who was one of the bricklayers who worked on the work; here on the handle I have a portrait of him and in the Chapel it is painted several times; a man with a lot of personality, very sensitive. He was from Chiconcuac and he made designs for the jorongos and those handicrafts that are still made, he also made stories; In the magazine “Mexican Folkways” of which Pablo O'Higgins was one of the collaborators, they published some stories about León Venado, who was illiterate, but with the help of Francis Toor, a woman very interested in collecting things from Mexico, León Venado she told the story and she wrote it, the magazine published it respecting the credit for León Venado ”.
