Ceremonial head cloth (kiet)
Chinalai Tribal Antiques, Ltd.
This late 19th or early 20th century silk ceremonial head cloth from Cambodia (present day Kampuchea) was created with two dye-resist techniques: tie dye and stitch resist. It is divided visually into three sections — a center pattern of a multilayered large X created with small squares and interspersed with motifs of trees and stars or flowers between two long borders displaying what could be stylized trees of life.
