Apache - Rare Figural Chief's Head Bag - Double Sided
Buffalo Barry's Indian Art
Apache Fort Sill style bags rarely have figures. This one has two: a chief’s head (notice the fierce-looking eye) and a yellow eagle with patriotic shield. Also interesting is that the fringe on this bag is doubled, with a row attached to each side of the bag. This is probably a later version of a Fort Sill bag from 1930-1940. It is 10″ long including fringe and 5″ wide. Overall, an anomalous and interesting example. The inner cloth lining is worn but the appearance is in no way affected.
