Exceptional Zuni Kumanshi Bolo -
Buffalo Barry's Indian Art
The inlay on this piece is exceptional. The bolo depicts a Zuni Kumanshi katsina. The bolo measures 2 3/4″ tall by 2″ wide. The miniature Kumanshis on the tips measure 3/4″ by 3/4.” The braided leather string is 23″ times two. On the back of the bolo is scratched LS. A helpful Zuni participant on the Historic Zuni Jewelry Facebook group said this may stand for Lafayette Shebola, brother of Dixon Shebola. It has a Bennet style clasp on the back with no mark.
