Navajo vintage silver and green turquoise bracelet. J9621
American Indian Antique Art and Southwest Native Originals
This beautiful vintage Navajo bracelet weighs 48 grams due to its large, awesome, green turquoise cabochon. The silver band consists of 3 separated silver wires joined at the ends: a twisted silver wire is centered on each side by triangular silver wires that are stamped on their outer edges with crescent figures. Overlaying the center of the bracelet is a large, scallop-edged, oval silver sheet measuring approximately 1 and ¾” long by 1 and ½” wide. Mounted on this silver sheet is a gorgeous, large, domed, green turquoise cabochon measuring approximately 1 and ¾” long by 7/8” wide and ¼” high at its top. Encircling the base of the cabochon is a thin silver twisted wire, encircled by semi-circular twisted silver wires. This elaborate silver wire overlay on the scallop-edged silver sheet creates a beautiful filigree decorative effect. But wait, that’s not all the beauty the Navajo silver smith gifted us! Flanking this gorgeous center on each side is an elliptical-shaped silver sheet overlain by finely formed & coiled silver wires, again creating a filigree decorative effect. What a beauty! This unknown Dine’ silver smith obviously was highly motivated to create exceptional jewelry art—he was highly gifted in both silver technique and artistic design. The silver is naturally tarnished due to age. We do NOT polish vintage silver because many people prefer Native American vintage jewelry with that natural tarnish. Of course that is your personal decision.
Size. See photo for bracelet size: 1 and 7/16” widest by 1.75” deep, with a wrist opening gap of 1 and 1/8”.
