Wooden mermaid placed on front tip of a transatlantic ship for spiritual  protection. Very limited numbers still in existence. The trans-Atlantic ships with mermaid figureheads sailed from the 16th century through the 19th century. Conversational historrical object. Steel museum made mound presents the carving beautifully.
