Pair of Skookum Dolls
Asian and Tribal Art - Zena Kruzick
Skookum dolls (Bully Good) were made in the 1920s-40s, having been originally patented in 1914 by Mary McAboy. The faces on this pair are composition material and they wear the trypical wool blankets and beaded headress and belt. The female carries a baby in her arm. While the eyes are usually painted facing right, she is uncharacteristically looking left.
There is a label on the foot of the male doll and they both have metal bases. 12 and 11 inches high.
