Transitional Navajo Weaving, 1890-1910

Displaying a multitude of crosses with wonderfully serrated diamonds and reflecting the earlier wearing blankets trait of placing half-elements on the side so that when the blanket is folded vertically they will also come together and form completed crosses at their junctions. It also has the classic 1-3-5 matching horizontal bands complemented by the number 2 and 4 matching bands layout of the earlier Navajo serapes.  This piece also has rare exposed warps on one end, perfectly intact.  Sturdy, solid, and stout, this weaving was very well woven.  The glistening pattern looks attractive both on the wall and on the floor.
