Harry L Neufeld
Konyak Naga – full, extremely aged and worn chank shell, a type of the more universal conch shell, from the South Indian Ocean in the mid-1800’s, then traded to the Nagas, cut to form this open ended bangle, with engraved line design, 5” long, 10 ½” circumference, 2 3/8” diameter – many Naga tribes used assorted shell beads and objects but usually in their own specific way, and always with strict regulations for acquiring and wearing, thus enhancing the shell with status
