STYLIZED BRASS PENDANT WITH THREE HEADS
Harry L Neufeld
Konyak Naga – late 1800’s - early 1900’s – original headhunter’s high status trophy pendant denoting the taking of three heads – the brass may imitate a stylized tail of the drongo bird if split at the bottom and/or a large slice of a chank shell pendant if not - very rare with heads incorporated, broken towards the bottom but worn smooth over a century of use, as are the heads and all other edges – the loops on the back previously used for suspending are totally worn through – on a strand of old glass trade beads with original or very old stringing – 4” x 2 ¾”
