A Navajo Man's Wearing Serape
Old Saltillo Road
This full sized man's Late Classic Period Navajo blanket is soft and pliable. It is single ply handspun wool weft and warp and is dyed with both glowing indigo blue and green and analine red. The natural dark brown yarns are rich in color. One end uses 3 ply Saxony indigo green, the other end uses handspun green for the same design element.
While many moki blankets are smaller, this one is the size worn by adult males. It shows no damage, no bleed, and no moth grazing. It has been restored on the side selvages with a professional touch. Some of the red yarns are brighter dyed than others.
