A FINE COLIMA HEAD OF A DIGNITARY.
Anthropos Gallery
Here is a fine Colima head of a dignitary, or a shamanic personage, Comala type, Protoclassic, circa 100 B.C. to A.D. 250. Height: 8-3/4 inches high; Width: 5-5/8 inches. A dramatic, yet meditative object...known as a trophy head by some. Ceramic with red slip and deposits of manganese oxide. The spout on the top of the head served as a vent, suggesting a stylized 'horn of power'.
Sold with a custom made metal stand giving it a much greater height than the photo would suggest.
$1,975.00
