






A FINE OLMEC POLYCHROME LONG NECKED VESSEL

This intriguing work of Olmec art has a long neck with a flared opening, with an encircling tan colored band emanating ribbing in relief upon the red-slipped globular body, and remains of black pigment along each "rib" creating a handsomely burnished vase with copious ancient root markings within the beautiful surface patina. Sold with bill of sale from Stendahl Gallery, Hollywood, California which shows the price paid on May 31, 1990 was $4,270.
