Lushai, Mizoram tribes - circa early - mid-20th century - original, traditional festival hat (on base) of woven red-dyed cane and yellow orchid fiber, partially wrapped at the back with cloth, lined on the inside with thick tree sap to allow the stable insertion of porcupine quills with silver foil-wrapped attached feathers and cotton tassels - also attached are the original, old wood shafts with Job's tears seeds and iridescent beetle wings as traditionally worn - collected in Manipur, early 1980's
