Complete sword with charm bundle. The handle represents a mythical animal (Lasara), with a simian like figure, also with a Lasara style mouth, riding on its back. Of special note is the deer antler imagery carved into the head-dress of the rider.
Wood, metal, rattan, animal teeth or claws. Full L: 28.75" (73 cm), charm ball dia: 6.25" (15.9 cm).

Provenance
Ex: Frank and Helen Schreider collection (before 1961). The Schreider's, members of the Explorer's Club and National Geographic Society, famously traveled the length of Indonesia, from Sumatra to Timor in an amphibious vehicle in 1961. Their story was published in National Geographic Magazine in the 1960s as well as their book: "The Drums of Tonkin, An Adventure In Indonesia" (1963).
