Finely Carved Spirit Spouse

A "Baule spirit spouse" refers to the belief held by the Baule people of Ivory Coast that every individual has a spiritual partner, called a "blolo," who they were married to in the spirit world before birth, and this spirit spouse can influence their life on Earth, often represented through a carved wooden figure called a "waka sran" which is considered a physical embodiment of the spirit spouse; "blolo bla" refers to a female spirit spouse and "blolo bian" refers to a male spirit spouse.
