War shield from the Arrusi people of Ethiopia. A fine round example with high relief bump pattern, rolled edge, and intricate surface patterning cut into the front surface. The  buffalo hide is formed into a purposeful pattern that may distinguish the status of the warrior. The patina is good and dark from age and use.
