



SOUTH INDIAN DOWRY BANGLES

circa - early 1900's - old Indian henna stained dowry bangles, the stain reflecting traditional Indian women's marriage colors - put on at marriage, and left unbroken after the wife must remove her jewelry when the husband dies, including breaking most of these bangles off of the wrist and arm, these solid pieces are rare - 284 & 293 gram weights, 2 1/2" and 2 1/8" diameters, 1 1/2" widths and 3/4" thicknesses - polished to an extremely high gloss after collection to bring out the markings from the staining
