KONYAK NAGA CHIEF'S WIFE'S TRIDENT
Harry L Neufeld
Konyak Naga – early 20th century – rare chief’s wife’s thin, flat sided, unadorned spear, with iron trident tip and base point, with a line of eleven symmetrically burned designs towards the bottom, evenly placed on both sides of the shaft – most Naga tribal regulations stipulated there be no animal hair, fur and other parts as adornment for female members of the tribe - still, just the weapon in and of itself was a sign of status reserved for wives of an angh (chief) - 66” x 4” - $250
