Fancy Mexican Sombrero

 This fancy Mexican sombrero is an example of the Chinaco Society style....low rise and a flat brim, ca:1875.  A group of Mexican cavalrymen formed this society composed of horsemen proficient in marksmanship and horse handling skills mastered by their military service.  Also required was a mastery skills learned in ranching.....vaquero (Spanish for "cowboy").

  This sombrero is decorated with an abundance of silver wire bullion stitch decorations displaying the status and wealth of the wearer.  It is in undamaged condition, and is rare because of its age and it's esteemed style.
