TWO OLD ENGRAVED ABORIGINAL BOOMERANGS, Australia.
a) This boomerang is heavily grooved over its whole surface, with some added motifs. This was most probably a fighting boomerang with the owner's totem motifs engraved, The two pointed ends suggest it was also used as a food digging tool. 19thC 65 x 12cm $1400
b) A very fine example of a 19thC Kimberly boomerang. The engraved traditional designs, depicting waterholes and natural elements, is very preecise and elegant. The reverse side has some geometric motifs balanced with animal designs. 19th Century 64 x 13cm $2,000
