Historic Navajo bracelet
Chinalai Tribal Antiques, Ltd.
Hallmarked with a stamp with an arrowhead between UI and TA and the number 31 — for the United Indian Trading Association which was founded in 1931 to authenticate Native American crafts and jewelry — this Navajo silver bracelet, accented with silver dots, displays a cluster of 17 triangular and oval shaped turquoise stones in sawtooth bezels. The quality of the turquoise stones, which are mounted on a silver plate on a twisted wire bracelet, is outstanding. While many of the stamped numbers from the UITA refer to known trading posts, No. 31 remains a mystery. Works with UITA stamps are becoming more and more collectible. 6-1/2” circumference from bracelet end to end with a 1-1/16” opening. 72 grams.
